Before you add a CNAME record to your Namecheap account, you may want to add your domain into Unbounce first. See our full guide on how to Connect Your Domain in Unbounce.
Namecheap's platform may change or update steps on how to set up a CNAME record; for the most up-to-date instructions, visit their support article directly: How to add a CNAME in Namecheap.
Add a CNAME Record to Your Namecheap Hosted Domain
- Log in to your Namecheap account.
- Click the Account drop-down menu and select Dashboard.
- Click Domain List and click the Manage button for the domain you wish to set up.
- Click Advanced DNS.
- Find the Host Records section and click Add New Record.
Having trouble editing your Host Records? Take a look at Namecheap's troubleshooting documentation for more insight: Why can't I modify Host Records in my Namecheap account? - From the Type drop-down menu, select CNAME Record.
- Fill in the form fields with the following info:
- The Host will be the subdomain you’ll want to use for your custom domain (i.e., if your custom domain in Unbounce is get.mylandingpage.com, the Host in Namecheap is get).
- The Value field refers to the unique CNAME ID generated by the Unbounce app.
- TTL can be left as-is or set to Automatic.
- Click Save All Changes.
Do note that it can take up to 48 hours for newly-created records to take effect.
Once your CNAME is ready, you can publish your pages where you want. To do so, you’ll want to change the URL of your landing page in the Unbounce app.
If you've followed these steps and are still experiencing difficulties with your custom domain, take a screenshot of your current DNS setup and contact our Support team using the Help widget at the bottom left corner of Unbounce.
