Build forms in the AI Hybrid Builder

Follow

This article is about the AI Hybrid Builder. To see how it compares with Classic Builder, read How the AI Hybrid Builder differs from Classic Builder.

Forms in the AI Hybrid Builder are built from components, the same way as the rest of your page. Add them from the Components panel, or ask Unbounce AI to add one (see Forms Unbounce AI builds below).

Add a form

  1. Open the Components tab and find Forms.
  2. Click Lead Capture, then choose Inline Form (a form on the page) or Lightbox Form (a form that opens in a pop-up window).

A new form comes with sample fields you can edit or remove: full name, work email, team size, a goal question, and a terms checkbox.

After you publish, submit the form once yourself, then check your page's Leads tab to make sure the lead came through.

Forms Unbounce AI builds

Forms that Unbounce AI adds collect leads, but their button can't show a confirmation or send visitors to another page. After someone submits, the page reloads with the fields cleared. To fix this, delete the button, add a Form Button from Forms in the Components tab, and set its Action (see What happens after someone submits below).

Field types

Once your page has a form, you can add these fields to it:

  • Text input
  • Text area
  • Checkboxes
  • Radio Buttons
  • Toggle
  • Select (a dropdown list)
  • Hidden Field
  • Form Button

The field options stay grayed out until there's a form on the page.

Hidden fields can fill in automatically from URL parameters on your published page. This is useful for tracking where visitors came from, such as an ad campaign or email.

Select fields submit the option's full label, like "200+". If you fill in a Select field from a URL parameter, use the label text exactly.

Give every field a label.

Required fields and validation

Mark a field as required to make sure visitors fill it in. Fields are checked based on their type, and visitors see an error next to any field that needs fixing.

You can also write your own error messages and set a custom rule (a regular expression) for what a field accepts, like a specific postcode format.

Spam protection

CAPTCHA is set for your account, not on each form. Go to Settings > Captcha, turn it on for all your domains or for a specific domain, then click Publish. You need at least one domain connected to Unbounce to use it.

Submissions that fail the check are saved as spam leads instead of regular leads. See Enabling Captcha for Your Unbounce Domain.

What happens after someone submits

Select your form's button, open Properties, and choose an Action:

  • Confirmation Message: show a message on the page. Click Edit Form Confirmation Dialogue to change what it says.
  • Go to Page URL: send visitors to another page.
  • Post Form Data to URL: send the form data to another web address, like your own form handler.
  • Show Alert: show a browser alert.
  • Go to URL in Lightbox: open another page in a pop-up window.
  • Show Lightbox: open a pop-up window.
  • Send Email: open a new email to an address you choose.
  • Call a Number: call a phone number you choose.

A new Form Button starts on Go to Page URL with no address. Left that way, the page just reloads after someone submits, so visitors can't tell it worked. Choose another action or add the address.

You can also change the button's text in Field Label.

To share a file, like a PDF guide, add a button to your confirmation that links to wherever the file is hosted.

Where your leads go

Form submissions go to your Unbounce leads, the same as with any Unbounce page. Email notifications for new leads work the same way too. Integrations are still being tested on AI Hybrid Builder pages. See Getting your leads, Getting started with integrations, and Getting email notifications for leads.
