Inline Text Editor Guide

Out with the old, and in with the new: Our Inline Text Editor has arrived!

The Inline Text Editor lets you edit your text in context with the rest of your page, gives you more space to edit, delivers an improved source mode for adding custom code, provides more intuitive dynamic text replacement, and adds security.

Here's your guide to the Text Editor features that have been updated, relocated, or retired to make room for this improved performance!


Cut, Copy, and Paste

Old Text Editor:

New Inline Text Editor: 

Cut: The "Cut" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by selecting the text you wish to cut and pressing COMMAND+X on a Mac or CTRL+X on a PC, or by right-clicking and selecting "Cut".

Copy: The "Copy" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by selecting the text you wish to copy and pressing COMMAND+C on a Mac or CTRL+C on a PC, or by right-clicking and selecting "Copy".

Paste: The "Paste" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by pressing COMMAND+V on a Mac or CTRL+V on a PC, or by right-clicking and selecting "Paste".

Paste as plain text: The "Paste as plain text" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by pressing COMMAND+SHIFT+V on a Mac or CTRL+SHIFT+V on a PC.

Paste from Word: The "Paste from Word" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by simply copying and pasting from Word. Heading, paragraph style, and list formatting (bullets and numbering) will be carried over; all other formatting will be stripped away, but it can easily be re-added in the Text Editor. 

Bold, Italic, Underline, Strike Through, Subscript, and Superscript

Old Text Editor:

The "Bold", "Italic", "Underline", "Strike Through", "Subscript", and "Superscript" buttons have been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder.

Numbered Lists, Bulleted Lists, Indents, and Block Quotes

Old Text Editor:

New Inline Text Editor:

The "Block Quote" button has been replaced by the "Quote" option in the Style drop-down menu in the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. Double-click your text box to make this feature visible.

The "Insert/Remove Numbered List", "Insert/Remove Bulleted List", "Decrease Indent", and  "Increase Indent" buttons have been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. 

Justification

Old Text Editor:

The "Align Left", "Center", "Justify Align", and "Align Right" buttons have been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. 

Links and Anchors

Old Text Editor:

The "Link" and "Unlink" buttons have been replaced by the Text Link section in the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder, under the "Action" tab. Enter or delete the text in the URL field to modify your link, and if desired, modify the target and enable/disable "Pass through URL Parameters" as desired.

The "Anchorbutton has been retired, but you can still add anchor links by following the instructions at: Adding Smooth Scrolling Links and Buttons.

Tables, Horizontal Lines, and Special Characters

Old Text Editor:

The "Tablesbutton has been retired, but don't worry! You can still easily add tables to your landing page by simply copying and pasting them from Word/Google Sheets/etc.

Insert_Horizontal_Line__New_.png

The "Insert Horizontal Linebutton has been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. 

The "Insert Special Charactersbutton has been retired. If you'd like to insert special characters like accents in your text, check out TypeIt, a free web service that enables you to type special characters that don't appear on a standard English keyboard.

Paragraph Format

Old Text Editor:

The "Paragraph Formatdrop-down menu has been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. 

Font Name

Old Text Editor:

The "Font Namedrop-down menu has been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. 

Font Size 

Old Text Editor:

The "Font Sizedrop-down menu has been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. You can both type in your desired font size or select one from the list.

Line Height

Old Text Editor:

The "Line Heightdrop-down menu has been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. 

Text Color and Background Color

Old Text Editor:

The "Text Color" and "Background Color" buttons have been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder. "Background Color" has been renamed to "Highlight Color".

Undo, Redo, Select All, and Remove Format

Old Text Editor:

New Inline Text Editor: 

Undo: The "Undo" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by pressing COMMAND+Z on a Mac or CTRL+Z on a PC or pressing the "Undo" button that still lives in the upper left corner of the Builder.

Redo: The "Redo" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by pressing CTRL+COMMAND+Z on a Mac or CTRL+Y on a PC or pressing the "Redo" button that still lives in the upper left corner of the Builder.

Select All: The "Select All" button has been retired, and you can now enable the feature by pressing COMMAND+A on a Mac or CTRL+A on a PC.

Remove_Format__New_.png

Remove Format: The "Remove Format" button has been retired, as most formatting is now removed by default. To removed any remaining unwanted formatting, you can delete it in the source code by clicking "</> View Source" at the bottom left corner of the text box in the Builder.

Check Spelling

Old Text Editor:

The "Check Spellingbutton has been retired, because spell checking is now automatically happening in the background of your browser! Shazam.

Show Blocks and Source / HTML

Old Text Editor:

The "Show Blocksbutton was a feature that used to display formatting elements such as paragraphs and divs, and the feature was been retired.

The "Sourcebutton has been repurposed as a "</>View Source" button at the bottom left corner of the text box in the Builder. 

HTML

When you use HTML tags in the new Inline Text Editor, any tags that are not supported will be automatically stripped out. The reason for this is to increase Builder security and to prevent the unwanted addition of malicious scripts. See below for a comprehensive list of allowed and disallowed tags:

The "Dynamic Textbutton has been relocated to the Properties pane on the right side of the Builder.

Glossary

Inline: The ability to make edits in place and see those changes as they're being made.
